FREEWHEEL

A Bike Club for Girls and Gender Non-Conforming Young People

Join the California Field School for Freewheel - a monthly bike ride open to young women and gender non-conforming young people who are in high school in Oakland and surrounding cities.  Starting in October 2019, we’ll spend one Saturday a month (generally 9 AM - 1 PM) exploring the Bay Area and its amazing communities and scenery.

Explore

Discover new exciting parts of the Bay Area and how to get around by bicycle.

Trip destinations include sacred Ohlone sites to learn about the Bay Area’s indigenous history, the Golden Gate bridge for spectacular views of the Pacific and the Bay, the shoreline trail to visit the Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond, and over the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island.

Freewheel ends with a 5 day/4 night bike tour around the Bay from March 30th - April 3rd, 2020 during OUSD Spring Break.  Participants must attend at least 4 of the 6 rides to come on the bike tour.

BIKE DRIVE SUCCESS!

Thanks to the generosity of dozens of supporters, we now have enough bikes for all of our students to ride!  OVER 25 bikes were donated, and they're now part of our Adventure Fleet, which we'll use on rides in the future. We're still looking for good quality road bikes in smaller sizes, please get in touch if you have one to donate! Email nora@californiafieldschool.org
